In Tibetan, Mani Stones are called as Duo Bang, meaning piled stones as altars. Generally, Duo Bang is classified into two types, i.e., Foul-resistant Duo Bang and Evil-resistant Duo Bang. Among the mountains, at the crossings, and beside the lakes and rivers, altars formed by piled stones can be seen everywhere. They also called as God Heap. Six-word mantra, eyes, or pictures of a god or Buddha and various auspicious patterns are inscribed on the stones. They are also masterpieces of Tibetan folk artists.
